DON COVAY & THE GOODTIMERS

The "Mercy!" -lp gives the co-writing credit for both "Mercy, Mercy" and "Can't Stay Away" to Horace Ott, however some releases of the single give them as Covay - Miller.

The first mention of this 45 in print that I have found, a review published in Cash Box 8 August 1964 -issue, lists the credits as "Covay  - Ott".

The BMI database, however, lists the composers of both "Mercy, Mercy" and "Can't Stay Away" as "Donald Covay" and "Miller Ronald Alonzo". So the question of who really co-wrote the songs with Covay remains unanswered.
