1 the "Mercy!" -lp was listed under "New Album Releases" in Billboard issue 16 January 1965. Next weeks issue 23 January 1965 has the album listed under "Special Merit Picks". Cash Box 23 January 1965 issue had a news item with the headline "Atlantic-Atco Opens `65 With 14 New Albums" including the Don Covay lp. The same Cash Box issue also included a full page ad which included the Covay -lp along with 11 other new Atlantic-Atco releases and stated that "Albums Available In Stereo".
2 the "Mercy, Mercy" 45 was reviewed in the 8 August 1964 issue of Cash Box and an ad for the single appeared in the 15 August 1964 issue of Billboard.
