THE ISLEY BROTHERS

The "Testify" -single was reviewed in Cash Box issue 13 June 1964:
"The Isley Bros. can quickly get back in their money-making ways with this first-rate candidate tabbed "Testify." The self-penned pop-r&b blueser is a rollicking fast-moving soulful affair which cleverly utilizes a Beatles-styled Mersey Beat for a few bars. The attractive 'part two' coupler is much the same as the top side but incorporates some effective snatches of humor."

There are 3 different pressings of the "Testify" 45.

SOURCES
1 The single is reviewed in Cash Box issue 13 June 1964

2 The single is included in Billboard issue 25 September 1965 under "Top R&B Jockeys` Pick-Of-The-Week", Bill Johnson from WUST in Washington includes the single in his list.
Record World issue 2 October 1965 includes several mentions of the single under the "R&B Beat" -section, the following DJs list it:
Paul Johnson, WITH, Baltimore
Ernie Durham, WJBL, Detroit
Nickie Lee, WAME, Miami
Georgie Woods & Jimmy Bishop, WDAS, Philadelphia
All of the entries are misspelled "Isely Bros". None of the lists in the previous issue, 25 September 1965, include any mention of the Isley Brothers. And none of the lists in the following issue, 9 October 1965, include the Isleys either - seems the single didn`t take off.

Also, the Monarch pressing of this single has the Monarch Delta number 58619. According to the chart at http://www.anorakscorner.com/PressingPlantInfo.html this indicates the time of pressing to be circa September 1965.

So based on the available evidence the single most likely was released in late September 1965.

3 Monarch pressing plant address published in Cash Box 14 August 1965 and 5 July 1969. Plant identification info is available at http://www.anorakscorner.com/PressingPlantInfo.html
"Each disc has their "MR" within a circle in the deadwax, and then a "Delta number", which consists of a scratched in triangle shape followed by a 5 digit number. It appears on both sides of a disc with an "X" added for the B.side. Note that the Delta/triangle system was not exclusive to Monarch, and other companies such as ALCO ( see below) also utilised it indicating that they produced the metal masters for pressing from. Record labels may use one company to produce the masters and another to actually press the discs - Monarch had the capability to manufacture discs. It is also worth noting that another metalwork company, AFM Engineering could also press records, but they used vinyl whereas Monarch produced styrene discs (injection moulded) rather than 'pressed/stamped' out vinyl."

4 The information about the "LW" abbreviation standing for  Long Wear Stamper Corp. comes from http://www.anorakscorner.com/PressingPlantInfo.html and https://www.discogs.com/label/438055-Longwear-Plating?page=21. The address for the company was published in a full page ad in the Cash Box 14 August 1965 issue. Lot`s of Atlantic releases were pressed from Long Wear Stamper Corp. stampers.
