THE ATLANTIC SOUNDS

The A-side, "Pata Pata" doesn't feature Jimi Hendrix but it's possible that the B-side, "Blast Off", does. "Blast Off" was originally recorded at a King Curtis & Bonnie Floyd studio session and later credited to the Atlantic Sounds when this single came out, see the Artists -entry).

Billboard 16 December 1967:
"The much recorded Makeba hit is given a powerful discotheque outing here with a groovy arrangement that defies you to sit still."

Cash Box 23 December 1967:
"Catchy instrumental treatment of South African songstress Miriam Makeba's current smash. Might do something for the Atlantic Sounds. Flip: "Blast Off""

SOURCES:
1 "Pata Pata" was listed in the "Money Music" -section of Record World 4 November 1967 under the sub-header "Record Company Corner". This was a section meant for record labels to advertise their releases. The inclusion of "Pata Pata" here was most likely an advance notice for an upcoming release. The description certainly seems to have been written by label executives:
"Hit instrumental by the greatest, funkiest musicians around, the Atlantic Records boys"

Record World 9 December 1967 announced the release of the single, "Aretha, Rascals Spark Big Atlantic Singles Week":
"Atlantic has a flock of strong single product set for release this week including a new Sonny & Cher, and new singles by the Atlantic Sounds [...]"

All trade reviews for the disc were published in the first half of December 1967.

Billboard 16 December 1967:
